Development Associate
Jina joined Horton's Kids as the Development Associate in April 2007. In addition to grant writing and fundraising, she has helped launch Horton's Kids' new program for older female youth and has already established a great connection with the girls. Jina previously taught English at a DC public charter high school where she also ran a program for at-risk female youth. Jina attended Florida A&M University for a few years, and although she received her BA from Meredith College in North Carolina, she still considers herself a "Rattler." During college she mentored a younger student, and after graduation began a one-on-one mentoring program at her church. Just prior to working for Horton's Kids, Jina was a writer for a local shopping guide where she decided that she really missed the chaos of working with children. Jina is excited to be able to put her passion for helping youth to work for Horton's Kids.
