Kim was born and raised in the state of Oregon, and graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon with a degree in Psychology. After exploring the Midwest and India for a year after college, Kim worked at the American Red Cross in Salem through AmeriCorps’ Oregon State Service Corps, teaching health and safety courses to kids of all ages. She then married an aspiring politician, moved to Washington, DC, and luckily landed an AmeriCorps VISTA position with Horton’s Kids for the 2006-07 school year as Health Advocate Program Specialist.
Kim is now on staff as the Health and Basic Needs Associate. She arranges dental and doctor visits for the kids, researches ways to reduce the violence in Wellington Park, encourages healthy diets and exercise, and always has a first aid kit for those unexpected (yet predictable) boo-boos.
