Established in 2011 and renovated in 2012 through a partnership with the Food Network, the Community Resource Center is just steps away from the children’s homes. Equipped with bulletproof glass, the on-site Center is the only safe, consistent, and accessible source of fresh produce, healthy food, books, and computers for many children and families. The Center also provides participants’ families with the opportunity to regularly connect with our staff and creates an open line of communication toward the shared goal of supporting and empowering children for success.
The majority of Horton’s Kids programs take place in the Center. Additionally, partner organizations, including Concerned Black Men, DC Diaper Bank, and the Wendt Center deliver services to Wellington Park families out of the Center.
