History
Karin Walser, a former Capitol Hill staffer, founded Horton’s Kids in 1989 with the help of her friends. Since then, Horton’s Kids and many dedicated volunteers have served hundreds of children from Washington, DC’s Ward 8.

For years, Karin Walser worked tirelessly to improve the children’s lives. She still contributes to Horton’s Kids and volunteers at tutoring every single week.

Staff
Our enthusiastic and award-winning staff goes above and beyond to provide high-quality programs to participants and their families. Many staff members are former volunteers or members of the community that Horton’s Kids serves.

Board of Directors
Our board members have years of experience in their respective fields and bring varied skill sets to the organization. They secure resources and help shape program strategy to ensure Horton’s Kids’ sustainability. Many members are former or current volunteers, and two members are community representatives.
