Horton’s Kids is seeking a highly-motivated person to serve as our Secondary Programs Intern. This position would be a great fit for someone interested in education, social/emotional development of youth, working with low income youth and families, or social work.

- Conduct research on education and youth development best practices related to youth engagement, literacy intervention, behavior management, character-building, college and career prep, mentoring, life skills, and summer programming.
- Organize and share research findings.
- Assist with Implementation of Programming
- Support programs staff in prepping for and facilitating weekly activities for youth.
- Communicate with participants and families via phone, flyers, etc.
- Assist with chaperoning some weekend enrichment activities.
- Data Input and Purging
- Input data related to attendance, assessments, surveys, report cards, and pay checks using designated spreadsheets and/or Salesforce.
- Report out data (to staff and/or participants) as needed.
- Sort through hard copy files; save and shred/recycle as needed
- Administrative Duties
- Provide office and staff support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

The intern is expected to work between 20 – 25 hours per week; exact hours are flexible. This is an unpaid internship, but all interns whose internships are not funded by school or other grants receive a monthly $100 transportation stipend to defray commuting costs.
Horton’s Kids’ staff works in a metro-accessible office located on Capitol Hill. Interns may be asked to work some evening hours, do some lifting, or assist at Horton’s Kids’academic programs.
