As development assistant, Ishmael plays a key role in our fundraising and communications efforts. He regularly assists with foundation and government grants, event support, donor relations, and managing in-kind donations.
Prior to joining Horton’s Kids, Ishmael worked as a Research Assistant with Brass Tactics, an organization that brings non-traditional voices to the fight against climate change, and was an editorial intern with The American Prospect. He is originally from Wilson, NC by way of Fort Lauderdale, FL and a 2016 graduate from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He holds a BA in English and a minor in Education Equity. He currently lives in Northeast Washington, DC.
